Mobile payment is the default almost everywhere. Set this up before you arrive.

Getting around

Ride-hailing and maps that work reliably with English input.

Amap / Baidu MapsLocal navigation and transit; more accurate than foreign map apps.
DiDiRide-hailing with an English interface inside Alipay or its own app.
Metro appsCity metro QR codes, often available inside Alipay.

Language

Offline-capable translation helps with signs, menus, and forms.
